Story
In an old boarding house on the outskirts of town, Dina, Rina, Arif, and Budi shared a home. The boarding house was infamous for the eerie tales told by Mrs. Ani, the landlady. One night, after hearing the story of "Shadows in the Room," they decided to spend time together.
Dina, intrigued, suggested they explore the room rumored to be haunted. Rina, ever the optimist, dismissed it as a myth. Arif, skeptical, believed it was all just stories, while Budi appeared anxious.
“Come on, let’s check it out!” said Dina with a mischievous grin, challenging Budi's fears.
As they entered the room, the atmosphere shifted. The dim light cast dancing shadows on the walls, creating strange illusions in the cramped space. Rina and Arif began debating the existence of ghosts, while Budi pressed himself against the wall, eyes darting around for any signs of danger.
“Look over there!” Dina exclaimed, pointing to a corner. They all turned to see a vague shadow behind the window. It seemed to move, but as they approached, there was no one there.
“Just our shadows,” Arif said, trying to calm everyone down.
However, when they turned back, the shadow appeared again, this time much closer. Budi screamed, and Rina laughed nervously to mask her own fear. Dina remained calm, observing intently.
“Ibu Ani said if you see the shadow, you should ask it something,” Dina said. “Maybe it just wants to talk.”
Reluctantly, Budi stepped forward. “A-Are you here?” he stammered, his voice trembling.
Silence. Suddenly, the shadow began to speak in a soft, echoing voice, “Please… help me…”
They all froze. The shadow took a clearer form, revealing a woman with empty eyes that radiated sadness. Rina grabbed Dina's hand, while Arif took a step back, terrified.
“She needs help!” Dina exclaimed, sensing there was more to this than just fear. “We have to listen.”
Dina asked, “What can we do to help you?”
The woman in the shadow explained that she was trapped between the living and the dead. She asked them to convey a message to her family, who had forgotten her. Her heart ached from not being able to move on.
Upon hearing this, Rina began to cry, and Budi tried to ease the tension. Arif finally felt that maybe there was truth in the story.
“How can we help you?” Dina asked, filled with empathy.
With a fading voice, the shadow replied, “Tell them I still love them. Let them know I don’t want to be forgotten.”
After listening to her plea, the shadow slowly faded, leaving silence in the room. Dina, Rina, Arif, and Budi exchanged glances, feeling an unusual sense of peace.
“I think we should do something,” Arif suggested. “We need to help her find closure.”
That night, they committed to fulfilling the woman’s request. With newfound determination, they decided to find a way to convey her message to her family, hoping to bring peace to the lost soul.
From that night on, they no longer feared the shadow in the room. Instead, they felt a comforting presence, as if the woman was always with them, encouraging them to care for one another and share their lives.
The End
