Story

In an old house inherited from their grandmother, Nina and Mira lived together. The house was surrounded by dense woods, and many rumors circulated about a ghost that was often seen in Nina's bedroom window. Rudi, who frequently visited, always doubted these stories.

One night, after dinner, Mira decided to tell the ghost story that often echoed around their home. “They say there’s a ghostly woman who longs for something, and she often appears behind the window,” Mira said in a mysterious tone.

Nina felt a chill run down her spine. “I’ve felt it before… like someone was watching me from the window,” she whispered.

Rudi laughed dismissively. “It’s all just your imagination! There are no ghosts here,” he said, scoffing.

However, that night, as they were getting ready for bed, Nina woke up hearing a soft voice calling her name. She looked out the window and saw a woman in a white dress standing outside, her empty eyes fixed on her.

“Nina…” the voice called again, causing her to freeze. She shook Mira, who was still asleep. “Mira! Wake up! Look!”

Mira opened her eyes and glanced at the window. “What do you see?” she asked, half-asleep.

Nina pointed outside. “There’s a woman out there! She… she looks sad.”

Rudi, hearing the commotion, got up from his bed. “It’s just your imagination!” he said as he walked toward the window. But as he got closer, the woman vanished.

“See! There’s nobody there!” Rudi insisted, but Nina knew what she had seen.

Determined, Nina decided to investigate further. “I’m going to talk to her,” she said with resolve.

The next day, the three of them decided to explore the woods around the house. In the midst of their journey, they discovered an old gravestone covered in moss. Inscribed on it was the name of a woman who had died long ago.

“That’s her!” Mira exclaimed. “Maybe she’s the one we saw!”

Nina felt a cold breeze brush her face, as if someone was supporting her. “We have to do something to help her,” she said.

They agreed to hold a small ritual in front of the window that night. When night fell, they lit candles and called out the woman’s name, hoping to bring her peace.

As their voices echoed in the stillness of the night, suddenly, the ghostly woman appeared again behind the window. This time, she didn’t look frightening. Her empty eyes seemed filled with gratitude.

“Thank you…” the soft voice whispered. In an instant, the woman disappeared, leaving behind the flickering candlelight.

Nina, Mira, and Rudi exchanged glances, a feeling of relief and peace washing over them. Rudi, who had been skeptical, now believed they had helped a trapped soul.

From that night on, the ghost behind the window never appeared again. However, Nina felt her presence in a more tranquil way, as if she had finally found her place.
