Story

In a remote village surrounded by dense woods, a mysterious murder had taken place. Rani, a young journalist, decided to investigate the case for an intriguing story. She invited her friend Budi to accompany her.

Upon arriving in the village, they met Ibu Sari, an elderly woman known as the keeper of the village's secrets. “You must be careful, dear. Many don’t want the past to resurface,” she warned in a raspy voice.

Intrigued, Rani asked about the events that had transpired. Ibu Sari began her tale. “Long ago, a woman was murdered here, and her spirit still roams. Each time there’s a murder, she returns.”

Budi grasped Rani’s hand. “That’s just a story to scare people,” he said, though he too felt the tension in the air.

That night, they decided to visit the old house where the woman had been killed. As they explored the dusty rooms, they found a picture of the woman and notes about her life. Suddenly, they heard footsteps outside.

“Maybe that’s Toni,” Rani whispered, recalling that the young man often roamed the woods. However, when they stepped outside, there was no one there.

The next day, they approached Pak Darto, the village chief, seeking more information. “We want to know more about the murder,” Rani said.

“It’s better if you don’t meddle in these old affairs,” Pak Darto warned. “There are better things to do than dig up the past.”

Determined, Rani and Budi continued their search and encountered Mira, a village girl who knew the old stories well. “They say the murder was committed by someone close to the victim,” she revealed.

Hearing this, their curiosity grew. “We need to find the culprit,” Rani declared with enthusiasm.

As they returned to the old house, Toni suddenly appeared. “What are you doing here?” he asked suspiciously. “This isn’t a safe place.”

Rani explained their mission, and Toni agreed to help. However, as they delved deeper, Joko, a police officer, arrived to investigate further.

“I heard you’re looking into the murder,” Joko said. “You must be cautious. There are people who don’t want this secret revealed.”

That night, while they gathered in the old house, the lights suddenly went out, and the atmosphere became tense. They heard a faint voice outside, calling their names. “Rani… Budi… Toni…” the voice echoed clearly.

When the lights came back on, they found a note on the table detailing the murder. Rani began connecting all the clues. “This can’t be a coincidence,” she said. “Someone among us knows more.”

Meanwhile, Ibu Sari came to join them. “The spirit of that woman is restless. She wants you to uncover the truth,” she said. “Be careful, for the perpetrator is still here.”

They all fell silent, feeling the mounting tension. Suddenly, Toni disappeared. Rani and Budi panicked and searched for him. When they found Toni, he was standing in front of an old mirror, staring blankly.

“He knows who the murderer is!” Rani shouted. In the tension, they struggled to bring Toni back to reality.

With the help of Ibu Sari and Joko, they finally uncovered the truth. The murderer was someone they had trusted all along. All the village secrets began to unravel, and the woman’s spirit finally found peace.

After the truth was revealed, Rani wrote a report about the case, ensuring that the truth would not be forgotten. The old village might continue to harbor secrets, but at least now there was one truth that had been brought to light.
